Importance of Telecommunications

Communication has been one of the most important aspects of the growth of human society and culture. Without it so many things would not get done, people would be divided, and the world would not be how it is. Telecommunications, the transmission of signals over a distance for a purpose of communication, is also very important.

Telecommunications has a long and creative history behind it. One of the first means of telecommunications, and maybe the first one actually, was the use of smoke signals. In classical and ancient times, this was a very effective means of communication in a smaller, more rural world. Other older methods included the use of sound by such things as drums and horns. Flags, lamps and special towers were uses of optical telecommunication. Later development with a more advanced civilization and an industrious society allowed for the creature of telegraphs, radio, television, and eventually the internet.

Telecommunications provides a lot for the world. The commerce that telecommunications creates is a nice little chunk of the gross world product. It provides business, money and market stability in the world. Not only does it create these things as a product of itself, it benefits and enhances the whole world market by creating a tighter community and allowing for quicker reaction time and exchange of information.

There is also the contribution to science to consider. Development in telecommunication provides helpful research and foundation for other technologies. With the development and enhancements of the radio and understanding how radio waves work, flight has become one of the major benefits of telecommunications. Space and sea travel, exploration, and enhanced vehicles have all come from stronger developments in telecommunications. While telecommunications are not the only factor, the ability to send information back and fourth from one location to another has allowed science to develop in places that can’t always be monitored directly or visibly.

The world is an ever growing one, and would not be possible without telecommunications. As people moved and countries grew, more and more cities developed across the world. With telecommunications, it made it a lot quicker to relay messages from one place to another. Direct contact of a messenger to the receiver was still used and still is used today in some places and certain locations, but being able to send a message across large areas of land without physically traveling that land allows the message to be received quicker. This has helped tremendously with such things as war, weather problems, geographic problems, illness and health, and trade.

The impact that telecommunications have had on the world is evident. It’s one of the leading causes of why the world has grown so big and become so helpful and aware of many issues. Telecommunications promotes a better awareness of society and human life. It helps develop solutions and gather support for causes and problems all over the world, making Earth a little closer and a little safer.

Future iPhone and iPod Touch OS 4.0 Will Be Google Clear

The iPhone and iPod Touch have seen three operating systems in the last 2 and a bit years. The last OS 3.0 was debuted in March last year and we will most definitely see OS 4.0 announced this year in March also. OS 4.0 will be a huge update not just on new features but on whats going to change?

Apple doesn’t get on with companies very well probably due to the fact they like doing everything their way which I think is a good thing. Most companies have partnerships with other companies but Apple acts alone and at the same time takes them all on at once. When the first iPhone was announced and launched Google and Apple used to get on like a house in fire. Google helped Apple make the custom YouTube and Google maps Apps on the iPhone and Google also had tight integration with Mac OS X. With some rumblings between the companies last year and the year before you could see that Apple weren’t so fond of Google anymore. Google announced more products such as their in the cloud desktop OS and mobile phones with a Google sticker on them running Android and many new services much of which overlapped Apple.

Google can’t keep helping Apple with tiny parts of software on their products when they are competing in the smartphone market alongside Apple but somehow they think they can. So last year Apple decided to do the ultimate Appley thing and create an alternative to Google Maps. Apple purchased maps company PlaceBase which creates a very advanced mapping system API. Apple moved them into headquarters and has most defiantly been using their technology to create an iPhone map App with it. When 4.0 arrives on our iTunes you can expect Google Maps to be replaced.

The other Google related App is YouTube. YouTube is probably the best thing Google has to offer right now and we should still see the YouTube App with some new features on OS 4.0 along with instant uploading directly to YouTube for your iPhone 3Gs owners. Another Google element for the OS is on Safari your default search is Google with an option in the settings changing it to Yahoo. Apple isn’t planning on creating it’s own search engine but they will probably expand the options for who your default search is powered by such as the inclusion of Bing, Dogpile, AltaVista and Ask.

We also have Google Apps on the App Store with Google Earth, Google Mobile App and some others. But Google’s Apps are being rejected quite a bit. The famous Google Voice App was rejected but with some good reason it changes the UI in the OS and plays around with settings which isn’t allowed in the App Store approval guidelines but I think the rejections were partly done to spite Google.

Recently Google purchased AdMob which is an advertising company that run ads on the free Apps in the iPhone App Store. Apple were also about to purchase the company but Google snapped it from underneath them. Most probably because the company holds in depth information about the iPhone. So Apple retaliated when Google were looking into buying Music service LaLa Apple took it from them. Whats funny about that is Google’s upcoming music service will be powered by LaLa. Apple have now bought an advertising company called Quattro Wireless. The AdMob deal could however go under with Apple having it in the end as the Purchase is being investigated.

Google in a lot of ways wants to be Apple. They also want to dominate markets by giving away free services which then kills the pay services. They have to much power on the internet, but they probably have earned it in the search area but all these new markets that they are diving into now just seem a little odd.

Another thing I really hate about Google is that they can’t make a good user interface, when I first used Gmail I wanted to be sick same goes for all of Google’s web based Apps they are just not intuitive to use and they always look like something in beta.

So their you have it iPhone OS 4.0 will be ridden of Google (mostly). Apple are also going to be making processors and Graphics Cards by themselves for the iPhone 4G and probably every iPod and also the iSlate which is still to be announced when typing this. An Apple made processor is going to be so good for every aspect of the iPhone. It can be designed around the OS and it would be fully optimised but that is another bit of news.
